This lecture will explore the fascinating life, career and artworks of the ever-evolving artist Paula Rego (Portuguese, 1935 – 2022). I was inspired to learn all I could after by a recent trip to The Casa das Histórias Paula Rego (‘’House of Stories Paula Rego’’) a museum in Cascais, Lisbon District, on the Portuguese Riviera, designed by the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura to house some of her works. Her plan for the museum was for it to be “fun, lively and also a bit mischievous” and it is all of the above as you will see.
