Information on using Zoom

I will be using the software Zoom which will allow you to view my PowerPoint images or Virtual Museum tour with a live video of me talking up in the corner of the screen. At the end with can even have group conversations.
The Zoom software exists as a website and as an App that you can download to your PC, smart phone and IPad. If you are using a PC you don’t have to download it but it does help it load a lot faster.

I will advertise each lecture in advance and once you let me know that you wish to attend I will send you a Zoom link about an hour before it starts. You will click that link at the starting time in order to join.

For all the information you need to get started on Zoom click on this link:

Privacy Issues

Please note that the software is based on the presumption that everyone wants to be fully involved but there are steps you can take if you wish to remain anonymous to the rest of the group.

1. Pick a username that you are happy to share i.e. not your full name

2. When joining the meeting choose to not use video (you will still see me but no one will see you)
3. If you do not wish to participate in a group conversation which I will have at the end of each lecture, simply click on the ‘leave meeting’ button.

For everyone interested in upcoming lectures that will be open to everyone please go onto Zoom (link above) and follow the Test instructions to make sure your speakers etc. are working.

If you have any difficulties feel free to email me but please note that Zoom have an excellent help team that may be a more useful first port of call. I have tested it on my Mum and she did manage to use Zoom so I have no doubt that you will too.
